Французский медик, астроном и астролог. Предложил метод определения долготы по наблюдению расстояний Луны от звезд на соискание премии Французского правительства (1634). Однако идею Морина посчитали не новой, к тому же еще не было достаточно точной теории движения Луны, необходимой для этого метода. Поскольку М. не представил практических предложений по ее осуществлению, в премии ему было отказано. В этом же (1634) году ему впервые удалось с помощью телескопа наблюдать Венеру днем, через несколько часов после восхода Солнца. Первым предложил использовать галилееву трубу в качестве визира для измерительных инструментов (1634), что было неприменимо на практике. Только кеплерова труба дала возможность осуществить это предложение. В астрологии предложил новую систему деления на "дома".

In addition, Cardinal Richelieu and Cardinal Mazarin consulted with him. Cardinal Mazarin gave him an annual pension of 2000 livres. The printing of Astrologia gallica (The Hague, 1661) was paid for by Loui se-Marie de Gonzaga, Queen of Poland. Unknown influential people probably got him the post at the College Royal.

9. Technological Involvement Types: Navigation, Instruments Perhaps he practiced medicine while supported by the Bishop and the Duke. I confess to extreme skepticism on this, however; I'll bet a month's salary it was the astrology. Morin developed a method to determine longitude based on the moon. Because of the primitive state of lunar theory then, the method was impractical. He proposed the replacement of pinnules with telescopes on astronomical
instruments.
